AEL DELIVERS FIRST IAD BRASSBOARD TO HUGHES
LANSDALE, Pa., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- AEL Industries, Inc.

(NASDAQ-NMS: AELNA) announced today that its AEL Defense Corp. subsidiary recently completed the initial hardware delivery milestone on the Advanced Special Receiver (ASR) Program with the shipment of the brassboard of the F-18 Integrated Antenna Detector (IAD) Shipset to Hughes Aircraft Co.
The brassboard is a prototype and the shipset consists of six Weapon Replaceable Assemblies which provide the antenna and RF "Front End" for the AN/ALR-67(V)3 Radar Warning System.
AEL began work on the ASR Program in August of 1989 as a subcontractor to Hughes Aircraft Company Radar Systems Group, the prime contractor for development of the ASR. Eventually, AEL will be the second source for the Hughes-developed Quadrant Receiver and Countermeasures Receiver, while Hughes will be the second source for the AEL-developed IAD. A third team member, IBM, shares processor development and production responsibility with Hughes.
Within AEL Defense Corp., the newly formed Systems Division has overall management and technical responsibility for this program. The Microwave/Antenna Division also has a significant role in providing the antennas and micro-electronic hybrids used in the IAD.
AEL is a leading supplier of electronic defense systems and subsystems. The company designs and manufactures sophisticated countermeasures, simulation and radar warning receiver systems; installs and integrates electronic and avionic equipment in military aircraft, and provides state-of-the-art antenna, microwave and integrated circuit components.
The class A common stock of AEL Industries, Inc. is traded on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol AELNA.
