Knittel joined AEI Music as the corporate director of business affairs in 1995 and was then promoted to senior vice president of music and customer relations in 1996. Prior to joining AEI Music, Knittel was the director of licensing for the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP ASCAP

). While at ASCAP, he negotiated music licensing and employed music as a marketing tool on a worldwide basis. Knittel has a B.A. in business from Kent State University.
