Developed by Junior Achievement, the curriculum focuses on why staying in school is crucial to future individual success. Executives will help the students to see their place in the world as individuals, workers and consumers. The program's goal is to foster continuing relationships between the executives' companies and area schools. Several AEA member companies have indicated they will hold future teaching days for their employees.

"Teach the ABCs Day" was designed to advance Junior Achievement's industry/education programs that encourage students to pursue science, math, and business education. We ask companies to follow up the day with their own adopt-a-school programs," said Bruce Juhola, Chairman of Microbar and a member of AEA's Workforce Committee.

"This was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had for a long time. I didn't know what I was in for as I walked in the door and I guess it was the same for my fifth graders. But it worked out because my class and I have had a wonderful continuing relationship ever since. I recommend this experience to all," said Dr. Tim Healy Tim Healy may refer to:

Assemblywoman Elaine Alquist will voice her support for educational alliances such as this one at a reception following the program.

AEA also contributes to workforce development through the Bay Area Scholarship Fund which is managed by the AEA Workforce Committee to benefit programs for students and teachers that promote math, science and math education.

Many AEA member companies sponsor their own education outreach programs. A listing of these will soon be available through the National Clearinghouse for High-Technology Educational Reform.
