ADcom Information Services See Information Systems.  is the leading local cable television

audience measurement company. For the first time, local cable

television will be able to quantify its share of the television

audience to provide advertisers with the information they need to

effectively place more dollars in this exciting targeting medium

WPP has acquired a significant minority interest in the capital stock of ADcom, a company that specializes in providing local cable operators with information about what television programs their subscribers are watching and also where those subscribers shop for certain retail goods and services In economics, economic output is divided into physical goods and intangible services. Consumption of goods and services is assumed to produce utility (unless the "good" is a "bad"). It is often used when referring to a Goods and Services Tax. .

ADcom believes this investment will allow it to aggressively pursue roll-out of their services to the top thirty markets in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. . ADcom will also solve a major problem for advertisers who have viewed local cable as a medium whose value has never been realized because it could not be quantified and who are seeking new and more efficient ways to communicate with their customers.

WPP believes television audience measurement to be of particular importance given client concerns about the inflating costs of the mass TV media, and the changes taking place in media planning, buying and research. This move follows WPP's investment in IBOPE Media Research, Latin America's leading media research business, in 1997 and most recently AGB AGB Game Boy Advance
AGB Allgemeine Geschäftsbedingungen (German: General terms and conditions / Standard business conditions)
AGB Ice Breaker (USCG)
AGB Asymptotic Giant Branch
Italia Spa, the Italian-based group providing television audience measurement in 14 countries. The investment marks a further strengthening of WPP's media research activities through the operations of its Kantar businesses, the internal holding company for WPP's information and consultancy interests.
