      City of South Gate to Hold Press Conference With Reaction
               to Courts Ruling On Police Union Lawsuit

 Mayor, City Manager and Acting Chief of Police to Announce Reaction
  to Union Lawsuit Which Attempts to Stop Public Safety Initiatives


WHY:              The City of South Gate will hold a press conference
                  reacting to the ruling in the Los Angeles Superior
                  Courts on the matter of the police union's lawsuit
                  against the city. This lawsuit attempts to resist
                  recently implemented city policies designed to
                  provide increased police presence and public safety.
                  New policies include a five-day workweek and uniform
                  requirements for all on-duty officers (excluding
                  undercover officers).
