ADVISORY/ZLB Bioplasma Inc. Supports Prevention of West Nile Virus Transmission, Assures Public Its Plasma-Derived Products Are Safe.

Business Editors & Health/Medical Writers

ADVISORY...

--(BUSINESS WIRE)

WHO: ZLB Bioplasma Inc. is a major source of intravenous
immunoglobulin -- IVIG -- and other specialty plasma-derived
products for the U.S. market. The company secures its blood
plasma from U.S. collection centers for U.S. products
manufactured by its affiliate company, ZLB Bioplasma AG.

WHAT: ZLB Bioplasma supports the American Red Cross and American
Blood Centers in their efforts to assure the public that any
potential transmission of West Nile Virus (WNV) through blood
or blood products will be strictly avoided.

In accordance with ZLB Bioplasma's strict safety standards, the
company has always screened and will continue to screen its
plasma to prevent the introduction of pathogens into the
       manufacturing process.

ZLB Bioplasma also supports guidance from the U.S. Food and
Drug Administration stating that current viral reduction
methods, including ZLB Bioplasma's, have been validated to
       inactivate flaviviruses related to WNV.

       ZLB's manufacturing processes eliminate lipid-enveloped
viruses, which include WNV, should they pass undetected into
ZLB's product manufacturing process. The company's data shows
that ZLB's processing methods effect a more than 15-log
reduction of viruses structurally similar to WNV. (See ZLB
Bioplasma press release, also dated Dec. 16, 2002, for more
       information.)

The company expects no interruption to product manufacturing or
supply in the event of plasma withdrawals by collection
       centers.

WHY: A pioneer in the manufacturing of plasma-derived products and
the first company to market IVIG in 1979, ZLB is assuring
physicians, nurses, pharmacists, patients and business partners
that its products are safe, effective and free of the danger of
       contamination by WNV.

WHEN: December 16, 2002
