Indianapolis Zoo The Indianapolis Zoo in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, first opened to the public in 1964. Its current home in White River State Park was opened in 1988. WHAT:   The 2004 Towering Termite Tour, the world's largest traveling
        interactive termite exhibit housed in a two-story high
        inflatable termite, is swarming into Indianapolis just in time
        for Indiana Termite Awareness Week, May 30-June 5, 2004.
        Designed to educate and entertain kids and their parents, the
        belly of this bug (which is 69,000 times the size of a real
        termite) houses terrariums of real termite colonies, unusual
        materials attacked by termites like piano keys and magazines,
        fun learning games, strange but true termite facts (for every
        human on Earth, entomologists calculate there may be as many
        as 1,000 pounds of termites!) and valuable take home
        information for parents. Admission is included in the price of
        admission to the Indianapolis Zoo.

WHY:    Indiana Governor Joseph E. Kernan has proclaimed May 30 - June
        5, 2004 to be Indiana Termite Awareness Week. Termidor Termite
        Control supports his effort to educate Indiana families about
        the newest, most effective ways to protect their homes from
        costly termite damage, while providing an enriching and
        entertaining science exhibit to curious youngsters.
