State & National Building Industry Leaders Call for Targeted Policy Reforms to Eliminate Barriers to Development

The presidents of the National Association of Home Builders and the California Building Industry Association will hold a press conference in San Francisco to discuss the challenges facing home builders and home consumers in the next decade. CBIA president Jim Previti will discuss the regulatory hurdles that face California builders and the public policies that have made the state among the most expensive in the nation. NAHB president Robert Mitchell will address the national housing crisis that is being felt most heavily by working families in the nation's urban areas. Mitchell and Previti will lay out the legislative agendas of both organizations and how the reforms they are advocating will help address the housing crisis. The press conference will be held on the first day of PCBC(R) The Western Building Show, the premier trade show and conference for the building industry. PCBC attracts more than 18,000 members and affiliates of the home building industry, offering them a line-up of educational programs on issues ranging from higher-density development, infill and a host of other "smart housing" solutions to the state's housing crisis. PCBC 2000 is being held June 27-30, 2000 at San Francisco's Moscone Center.
