Business, News & Lifestyle Editors/Education Writers

ADVISORY...for Thursday Thursday: see week.  (March 15)

--(BUSINESS WIRE)
-- TOOLS FOR SUCCESS(R) Celebrates 10 Years of Helping Disadvantaged Students

-- New Research Findings Reveal Future Perceptions of Their Career Prospects in
the New Economy

WHAT: Nineteen outstanding vocational students -- many of whom have
survived poverty, gang violence and substance abuse -- will
learn they've won this year's TOOLS FOR SUCCESS(R) scholarship
at a campuswide rally at L.A. Trade-Technical College (LATTC)
downtown. In addition, one instructor making a difference in
the lives of these students will be named 2001 Teacher of the
Year. Come hear their inspiring stories.

New research findings on vocational students' perceptions
about their career prospects in the New Economy, and in the
wake of the dot-com restructuring, will also be presented.

WHEN: Thursday, March 15

        Visuals:
10:45-11 a.m. -- More than 500 jubilant LATTC students are
expected to congregate in LATTC courtyard.
11-11:30 a.m. -- This year's winners and Teacher of the Year
                         are announced.
11:30-noon -- Live classroom shots demonstrating the tools/
skills needed to survive in today's high-tech
                         work force. Interviews with winners,
                         instructors and program creators also
                         available.

WHO: Star of the popular TV show "Touched by an Angel" Alexis Cruz
and MEGA-FM deejay George Lopez will join the TOOLS FOR
SUCCESS(R) team in announcing this year's winners.

WHY: Workers entering the job market today must be equipped not
only with the skills but also with the high-tech tools and
equipment necessary to compete. Ninety percent of graduating
vocational students need expensive tools to start work. Most
students can't afford them. To assist students who have the
most need and show the most promise, Miller Brewing Co.
created TOOLS FOR SUCCESS(R) to provide tools worth up to
$4,000 at no cost to the recipients.

WHERE: Los Angeles Trade-Tech College
400 W. Washington Blvd. (cross street is Grand Avenue)
        Los Angeles

The rally will take place in front of Building D (Fishbowl
Area). Parking is available on LATTC Roof Lot F. (In case of
rain, the rally will be held in LATTC's Grand Theatre/Admin.
        Bldg. A.)

(right) on 21st Street and proceed up the ramp to the Roof
