Directed by Robert Egan and winner of the 1999 Lawrence
Olivier Award for Best New Play, "Closer" is a

Brian Dennehy's towering presence ignites Willy Loman,
Arthur Miller's American Everyman. "Death of a Salesman"

Nov. 4 "Peter Grimes"
Benjamin Britten explores the plight of a man caught in
the maw of tradition and convention; in this case, a
lonely fisherman, clashing fatally with the close-knit,
gossipy community of an English fishing village. Film
director John Schlesinger makes his Los Angeles opera
debut directing this new co-production.

Nov. 8-30 "Time of Your Life"
This vibrant and moving new comedy by Prince Gomolvilas
won both the International Herald Tribune Playwriting
Competition and the Julie Harris Playwright Award
Competition. Seven Asian-Americans (Thai, Filipino,
Chinese and Japanese) gather atop a Las Vegas wedding
chapel every week for a UFO watch. One particular night
brings about profound changes in all their lives when
the impossible becomes a reality.

The first major survey of the artist's media work during

Nov. 4-30 "A Century of Oz"
The Wicked Witch's hourglass from the classic film "The
Wizard of Oz," rare turn-of-the-century wallpaper
illustrated with Oz characters, and the finest known
copy of the first Oz book are the highlights from more
than 400 Oz-related items on display in the exhibition.
The exhibition presents the greatest number and breadth
of Oz materials ever publicly displayed.
Nov. 1-30 "Skeletons at the Feast"
More than 50 illustrations by the renowned Mexican
artist Jose Guadalupe Posada depicting the saints and
sinners of turn-of-the-century Mexican culture are on
display in "Skeletons at the Feast."
