WHO:    Wendie Malick ("Just Shoot Me") and David Hyde Pierce
        ("Frasier") are set to host the Fourteenth Annual Genesis
        Awards, a black-tie celebrity gala honoring outstanding
        individuals in the major news and entertainment media for
        spotlighting animal issues with courage, creativity and
        integrity.

        Celebrity presenters scheduled at the Fourteenth Annual
        Genesis Awards are Maria Conchita Alonso, Christian Bale
        ("American Psycho"), Dorie Barton ("Stark Raving Mad"),
        Garcelle Beauvais ("The Jamie Foxx Show"), Linda Blair,
        James Cromwell, Frances Fisher, Kelsey Grammer, Valerie
        Harper, Tippi Hedren, Earl Holliman, Jesse James
        ("Hanging Up"), Michael Jeter ("The Green Mile"), Frankie
        Muniz ("Malcolm in the Middle"), Alan Rachins
        ("Dharma & Greg"), Doris Roberts ("Everybody Loves Raymond"),
        Susan Sullivan ("Dharma & Greg"), Concetta Tomei
        ("Providence") and Dennis Weaver ("The Virginian").

        Guests of honor are primate photographer/conservationist Karl
        Ammann and interspecies communication pioneer Dr. Francine
        "Penny" Patterson. Special guests are Jordy Brown, 11, who
        adopted a bull and saved him from certain death in a Mexico
        bullring; U.S. Congressman Sam Farr, who introduced the
        Elephant Protection Act federal bill; Julia Butterfly Hill,
        who spent two years in a redwood to prevent loggers from
        cutting it down; and Steven M. Wise, author of "Rattling the
        Cage: Toward Legal Rights for Animals."

        Ark Trust founder and president Gretchen Wyler will chair the
        ceremony. An edited version will air on Animal Planet on June
        10 at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. (PT) and 9 p.m. and midnight (ET).
        Co-executive producers of the TV special are Wyler and Robert
        Halmi Sr.

WHAT:   Presented by The Ark Trust, Inc., a national, non-profit,
        animal-protection organization, The Genesis Awards are an
        international distinction presented to 23 recipients being
        honored for outstanding works in 1999. Winners include
        "Instinct," "The Iron Giant," "Animal Farm," "Dateline NBC,"
        "Judging Amy" and "Leeza."
