TOPIC: A dot.com employment report by outplacement firm Challenger Gray &
Christmas claims that lay-offs at Internet companies have been on the rise
since May and could continue to surge over the next three months, as reported
by CNNfn.com. The report alleges that the number of layoffs in October this
year increased 18 percent to 5,677 from 4,805 in September. The study
reportedly was based primarily on notices of layoffs and corporate filings.
