WHAT:   For the fourth consecutive season, the Los Angeles
        Department of Water and Power (LADWP) has teamed up
        with the Los Angeles Dodgers to offer the Power
        Hitter Clinic and Competition. The clinic gives kids
        ages 6-14 the opportunity to learn baseball
        techniques from some of their favorite Dodger
        players and coaches. Following the clinic, the
        children compete in the hitting competition with
        winners advancing to the finals at Dodger Stadium on
        Aug. 11.

WHO:    -Councilmember Alex Padilla
        -Dodger Infielder, Hiram Bocachica; Outfielder,
          Marquis Grissom; Shortstop, Alex Cora; Coach,
          Manny Mota; and Hitting Coach, Jim Colborn
        -Hundreds of area children

WHEN:   Saturday, May 12
        11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE:  Sylmar Park
        13109 Borden Ave.
        Sylmar, CA 91342

WHY:    This is the second of five LADWP Power Hitter
        Competitions planned at Los Angeles city parks
        during the summer of 2001. The event is one of many
        that LADWP sponsors to support the community it
        serves and the children of Los Angeles.
