WHO/WHAT:     This Friday, at the Wal-Mart store in Pomona,
              California, Wal-Mart Foundation will present The
              Salvation Army with a check for $10,000, funded by The
              Walton Foundation.  This donation was granted in order
              to support The Salvation Army in their previous and
              on-going efforts to assist the victims of the wildfire
              disaster.

              "We appreciate that Wal-Mart immediately stepped up to
              the plate to help us help the victims," said Lt. Colonel
              Alfred Van Cleef, Divisional Commander for The Salvation
              Army Southern California Division.

WHEN/WHERE:   Friday, December 5, 2003, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
              Wal-Mart, 80 Rio Rancho Road, Pomona, California

BACKGROUND:

Wal-Mart Foundation -- Wal-Mart's founder, Sam Walton, believed in
servant-leadership, so he made Wal-Mart's mission, to serve their
Associates and customers with compassion and integrity, its number one
goal. Wal-Mart's emphasis is on their Associates, children, families,
the local community and other local programs that improve the quality
of life in its communities.
