Background: In seven years of operation, the C-17 has proven to
be exceptionally valuable in humanitarian and
military efforts worldwide. Today, the manufacture
and assembly of the 100th C-17 is underway at
locations in 40 states and several European
                  locations.

For the 100th plane, Boeing is celebrating each
major stage of assembly. About 35 events are
planned, along with celebrations with each of the
                  C-17's top 30 suppliers.

Vought Aircraft Industries, headquartered in Dallas,
is a major supplier on the C-17 program. The company
fabricates and assembles the engine nacelles,
                  accessory doors, vertical and horizontal
stabilizers, the rudders and elevators, ailerons,
and the universal aerial refueling receptacle
slipway installation (UARRSI). Vought's work on the
C-17 tail sections and engine nacelles includes
                  systems integration and engine build-up.
