WHAT: DreamWorks Home Entertainment will host a unique
"survival contest" centered around the primary theme of
the $160 million smash hit "The Ring"...if you watch a
VHS featuring eerie footage of a ring of light, you
must make a copy to survive!

Marking the March 4th VHS and DVD release of the
psychological thriller that made people think twice
about the unmarked videos in their collections, more
than 10,000 blank videotapes will be piled in the
middle of a gigantic ring of light surrounded by 30 TV
and VCR combo units. Within this massive heap of tape,
only ONE will feature the mysterious images that
guarantee an almost certain death in seven days.
Hundreds of "hopeless" fans will converge on the
Equestrian Center in Burbank to vie for a spot as one
of thirty contestants randomly selected to compete for
$10,000 in cash. Once the video viewers take their
positions, Samara the institutionalized young girl who
was responsible for unleashing the deadly tape, will
crawl out from her well wielding the cursed VHS and
ignite the 160-foot blinding ring of light to signal
the beginning of the contest. The contestants will
make frantic dashes from the mound of videos to their
VCRs in hopes of finding the ominous-image-laden video.
Once the tape is exhumed, the contestant must run to
Samara's well, make a copy of the tape to win the cash
and avoid an untimely demise in seven days...

All unused tapes will be recycled or repurposed.

WHO: -- Star of "The Ring" Daveigh Chase (Samara) will
randomly draw names of 30 contestants and sign

-- Hundreds of fans of the movie
