WHAT: "UNITED WE STAND FOR AMERICA: A Message of Hope from the Youth
of Massachusetts"(USA) is reaching out to schools across the
Commonwealth to create a visible sign of hope in response to the
September 11 tragedies - a "larger than life" American flag
(65'x125'), made up of approximately 32,000 individual tiles of
fabric (6"x6") inscribed with students' messages of peace, hope,
love and support for our country.
Schools will be mailed USA Kits, which will include tiles and the
informational materials each school will need to complete their
part of the giant American flag. This symbol of hope and
patriotism will first be displayed on Boston Common and then will
be sent to New York City, Washington D.C., and Shanksville,
Pennsylvania as an offering of support and encouragement for our
fellow Americans.
WHO: A citizens coalition of Massachusetts working men and women have
come together to develop a campaign that enables our youth to
express a message of support, encouragement and patriotism for
their fellow Americans. To date, the following people,
