American toxicologist and physician known for her research on occupational poisons and her book Industrial Poisons in the United States (1925). treated to a day of pampering to include a private Mother's Day Brunch served by Harry Denton Denton, city (1990 pop. 66,270), seat of Denton co., N Tex.; inc. 1866. The city lies in an agricultural and industrial region, but the economy is based on education and research. The Univ. of North Texas, Texas Woman's Univ., and the Denton State School for the mentally retarded are there. Denton is also known as a city of roses. The North Texas State Fair is held there annually. himself at his famous namesake club -- Harry Denton's Starlight Room. This is a tradition started nine years ago by Harry Denton. As part of the Mother's Day celebration, the homeless mothers will receive vouchers to pick out a new outfit for the occasion (courtesy of The Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin) and be treated to make up applications (provided by Koko Represents) in the morning before brunch. A stylish black mini-bus(provided by Bauer Limousine) will transport the mothers to the Starlight Room. WHEN: Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11 10:00 am -- Make up applications at Hamilton Family Residences -- 260 Golden Gate Ave 12:00 noon -- Mothers board a stylish mini-bus headed for Harry Denton's Starlight Room 12:15 pm -- Harry Denton and Mayor Willie Brown greet mothers at entrance to Sir Francis Drake Hotel -- 450 Powell Street (Brown to say a few words) 1:00 pm -- Brunch served on the dance floor of Harry Denton's Starlight Room (Catered by Scala's Bistro with music by the Starlight Quartet) 3:00 pm -- Bauer's Limousine Service returns mothers to Hamilton Family Center WHO: Yolanda Gibson, who along with her husband, William Mitchell, and their 17 month old baby daughter Odjahnae, lived at Hamilton Family Residences from May through October of 2002. They are now working and have section 8 housing on Treasure Island. This Sunday, May 11, Yolanda will join 21 other mothers who are still homeless and living at Hamilton Family Residences with their children. Yolanda and her husband attended workshops, worked on budgeting, and received a move-in grant from the housing and aftercare af·ter·care ( f t r-kâr )n. program for furniture. Yolanda Gibson is available for interviews as well as Harry Denton. WHY: This day is designed to recognize the hard-working mothers of Hamilton Family Center's Family Residences, which helps homeless families rebuild their lives and transition to independent living. About Hamilton Family Center Founded in 1985, the Hamilton Family Center is a non-profit organization that strives to end homelessness for families in San Francisco by providing a safe, stable, temporary home environment that promotes the dignity of each family and fosters self-sufficiency. Each night, Hamilton accommodates over 250 people (60 percent of whom are children) through three residential programs in the City. A fourth program, Hamilton's Housing and Aftercare, helps homeless families in San Francisco find affordable housing and for one full year, offers them resources, advice and support to break the cycle of poverty. This summer, Hamilton Family Center will open its fifth program, a permanent supportive housing facility for 75 families and people living with disabilities.
