WHAT: The trading card game phenomenon Magic: The
Gathering(R) is set to take the World (Wide Web) by
storm with its debut as an online game at E3Expo in
Los Angeles. Online games, the fastest-growing
category in the electronic games industry, will be
in the spotlight at E3 and Magic: The Gathering
Online is sure to be one of the most talked about
online games of the show and year.
There are more than 7 million Magic: The Gathering
players worldwide. Magic: The Gathering Online
represents a new genre of online games -- electronic
trading card games that enable players to collect,
trade and duel with "digital objects." More than
60,000 players have participated in the Magic Online
beta since February. Magic Online is set to release
on the heels of E3, in late June.
WHO: Magic: The Gathering Creator Richard Garfield, one
of the gaming industry's true gurus, will meet Magic
Pro Tour Player Chris Benafel at E3 in an online
duel.

and is fully playable/demonstrable.

shoulder and watch as digital Magic cards are put into
play.

in-person at E3 to play and discuss Magic Online.
