WHAT:     Thousands of book lovers are expected to attend "Fall Into
          Reading," the 1st annual West Hollywood Book Fair, on
          Saturday, October 5, 2002 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at
          West Hollywood Park, 647 North San Vicente Boulevard.
          From mysteries to poetry, a wide variety of literary genres,
          famous authors, readings, diverse panel discussions, booths
          showcasing local independent bookstores and many other
          special activities for families and children will be
          offered.  Admission is free.  Public parking is available
          for $5 at the Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Avenue.

          The West Hollywood Book Fair will feature a day of
          activities appealing to all reading interests, from adults
          to teens to children.  The event begins with the pageantry
          of the Opening Ceremony featuring circus acrobats and
          remarks by the West Hollywood City Council and invited
          dignitaries at 12 noon on the Target Children's Stage.
          Dozens of book discussions, panel discussions, book
          signings, writers' workshops and celebrity readings for
          children will take place throughout the day.  Local
          independent bookstores such as The Bodhi Tree Bookstore,
          Storyopolis, Book Soup and A Different Light are just a few
          of the many that will be showcased.

          The West Hollywood Book Fair is organized by the City of
          West Hollywood through a partnership with the L.A. Weekly.
          Additional sponsors include Target, Regency Outdoor
          Advertising Inc., West Hollywood Convention and Visitors
          Bureau, Pacific Design Center, Illustrator Diane Greenseid,
          Graphic Artist David Rosemeyer, Barbara's Place Printing,
          House of Blues, Dublin's, Bar Fly, Key Club, West Hollywood
          Elementary School, Friends of the West Hollywood Library,
          The Gas Company, Southern California Edison, Whole Foods
          Market, Dana Marotta and the Pop Luck Club.

WHO:      Thousands of book lovers, hundreds of famous authors,
          performers and celebrities, as well as members of the West
          Hollywood City Council, representatives from U.S. Senator
          Diane Feinstein's office; representatives from Supervisor
          Zev Yaroslavsky's office; Los Angeles Unified School
          District Board of Education President Caprice Young; Los
          Angeles Board of Education Member Marlene Canter; and other
          dignitaries.

WHEN:     Saturday, October 5, 2002
          10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
          Opening Ceremony at 12 noon on the Target Children's Stage.
