WHO:                 The American Lung Association of South Florida

WHAT:                Blow the Whistle on Asthma Walk

WHERE:               Huizenga Plaza, formerly Bubier Park, in
                     Fort Lauderdale - located on the corner of
                     Las Olas and Andrews Ave.

WHEN:                Saturday, October 4 at 9:30 a.m.

HOW:                 500 - 750 participants will walk a three mile
                     route around the Riverwalk area along with the
                     Miami Dolphins cheerleaders and TD the Dolphins
                     mascot will be attending the walk and signing
                     autographs.

"There is no cure for asthma," said Paula Ettline, Director of Special Events for the American Lung Association The American Lung Association (ALA) is a non-profit organization that "fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health".  - South Area. "We are encouraging people to come out and support the cause that affects so many."

This fundraiser is designed to increase awareness and promote asthma research in the South Florida community. Approximately 75,000 South Florida children have asthma. The American Lung Association's "Blow the Whistle on Asthma" walk will benefit these children and the other more than 26 million Americans afflicted. Proceeds are being contributed to asthma education programs in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties and the Asthma Clinical Research Center at the University of Miami This article is about the university in Coral Gables, Florida.
