The Salvation Army


EVENT:      The Salvation Army is perhaps best known for its programs
            to serve the homeless.  What many do not realize is that
            The Army operates more than two dozen community centers
            and residential programs in the Philadelphia area, and has
            a variety of specialized programs to meet the needs of
            Philadelphia citizens.  "Soup's On," one of The Salvation
            Army's newest programs, is a culinary arts job training
            program that has already placed more than 66 students into
            food industry jobs with a 96% job retention rate.  The
            program will be honored this Thursday by Mayor John F.
            Street at City Hall.

DATE/TIME:  Thursday, April 15, 2004
            Short ceremony promptly at 9:45 a.m.
