EVENT:          The Salvation Army of Greater Philadelphia celebrates
                the first graduating class of the Soup's On! Project.

                Soup's On! is a self-supporting Salvation Army
                initiative that makes and sells soup, wholesale, to
                area restaurants.  The enterprise produces 15
                gourmet-quality soups, including Chicken Gumbo, Pasta
                Fagioli, Spicy Seven Bean, Seafood Bisque and
                Cucumber Dill.

                The ceremony will be followed by a luncheon catered by
                Soup's On! graduates.

DETAILS:        Soup's On! serves as a training program for residents
                of Salvation Army shelters and transitional living
                programs.  Students are enrolled in a two-month
                training class that will teach them a variety of
                culinary skills.

                  In addition to making soups, Soup's On! has catered a
                number of special events for The Salvation Army of
                Greater Philadelphia and local foundations.

                  Following the first training program, two graduates
                have been hired as full-time employees of Soup's On!
                One graduate has enrolled in culinary school and
                another has been hired at a local outreach kitchen.
