--(BUSINESS WIRE)

EVENT: The Salvation Army of Greater Philadelphia will
introduce its first-of-a-kind project, Soup's On! and
dedicate the project's brand new commercial kitchen.

Soup's On! is a self-supporting Army initiative that
will make and sell soup, wholesale, to area
restaurants. The enterprise will produce 15
gourmet-quality soups, including Chicken Gumbo, Pasta
Fagioli, Spicy Seven Bean, Seafood Bisque and Cucumber
                Dill.

DATE/TIME: Friday, December 8th
                11:00 AM

PLACE: The Salvation Army's Eliza Shirley Campus
                4050 Conshocken Avenue
                Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

INTERVIEWS: Lt. Col. William Carlson, Divisional Commander, The
                 Salvation Army
Arlene "Wiggy" Olsen, Soup's On! Project Manager
Kevin Tomson-Hooper, Divisional Director of Social
                 Services, The Salvation Army
                Ted Hill, Vice President, Aramark
Dr. Nancy Morgan, Office of the Mayor
                Soup's On! Trainees

DETAILS: Soup's On! will serve as a training program for
residents of Army shelters and transitional living
programs. Five to seven students will be enrolled in a
two-month training class that will teach them a
variety of culinary skills. Following the training
program, Soup's On! graduates will have the option of
                staying on as full-time employees.

Locally, the wholesale soup market has enormous
                revenue potential. Nearly 75% of Philadelphia's 700
restaurants do not produce their own soup. Net
revenues will be used to support the Soup's On!
                initiative.

A number of area businesses supported this project
including ARAMARK, who was instrumental in renovating
the kitchen into a commercial facility.
