WHAT: On Thursday, November 21, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. The Greater Boston Food Bank will be providing Thanksgiving meals to hundreds of children who participate in its Kids Cafe programs. Holiday activities will be part of the afternoon's festivities. Staff from The Food Bank will be serving turkey with all of the trimmings at both the Thomas Chew Boys and Girls Club in Fall River and the West End Boys and Girls Club in Allston. The Thanksgiving meals are the result of special holiday sponsorships provided by Fidelity Investments, Garelick Farms, Jonathan's Organics, and Brady Enterprises. Kids Cafe, which is run by America's Second Harvest Food Banks across the nation, is one of the largest free meal service programs for children in the United States. Since the program's inception in The Food Bank's service area of eastern Massachusetts, Kids Cafes have become a central tool in its effort to end childhood hunger. The primary goal of the Kids Cafe program is to provide free, prepared food and nutrition education to hungry children. The Greater Boston Food Bank runs four Kids Cafes including ones at the YWCA Generation Living Together Center in Dorcester, the Orchard Garden Community Center in Roxbury and the two Boys and Girls Club locations. -0-
