Ceremony Marking Start of Construction Will Bring Together

Public Health Advocates with Local Opinion and Community Leaders


WHAT:    The California Endowment (The Endowment) is celebrating its
         eighth anniversary and the impact it has had on access to
         health care since its creation in 1996 with an event that
         marks the start of construction on a new multi-purpose
         facility that includes a large, community conference and
         resource center for use by health providers and advocates,
         policy-makers, researchers, and civic & community leaders.

WHY:     By moving its facility to a central site that is closer to
         its grantees and by providing a community conference and
         resource center for use by non-profit organizations, The
         Endowment expects to help bring the community together to
         collectively help address and develop solutions to providing
         quality health care for all Californians.

WHERE:   Future Site of The Endowment's New Home
         1000 N. Alameda Street
         (adjacent to Los Angeles' historic terminal annex building)
         Los Angeles, CA 90012 (pdf version of map available)

WHEN:    Monday, May 24, 2004
         10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

         Los Angeles City Councilmember Antonio Villaraigosa
         The Endowment's Board Chair Emeritus Laura S. Wiltz, Ph.D.
         The Endowment's Board Chair Cynthia Ann Telles, Ph.D.
         The Endowment's President and Chief Executive Officer Robert
         K. Ross, M.D.
         Local religious leaders from surrounding communities

         Religious representatives offering blessings to the site,
