perishable and prepared food rescue program annually collects
and distributes 207,000 pounds of nutritious, perishable food
that otherwise would have been wasted. With the help of the
Boston College Alumni Association and their on-going
commitment to the program, the proceeds from this event,
provides Second Helping with nearly 159,000 meals to 24
emergency feeding programs throughout eastern Massachusetts
        every year.

Second Helping is a critical link between restaurants, hotels,
hospitals, caterers and corporate cafeterias seeking to donate
surplus food to area non-profit shelters feeding the hungry in
Eastern Massachusetts. The program has over 170 participating
donors including, Boston College Dining Services, Sodexho
Marriott, Westin Hotel-Boston, Bread & Circus, Newbury
        College, and many local restaurants.
