"We are aiming to reach our campaign goal of $2.6 million by April 2001," said Executive Director Robin Higgins. "Florida is what it is today because of the efforts not only of the veterans, but those who stayed behind to support them," she added.

A major exhibit is due to open in the Museum of Florida History in Tallahassee on December 7, 2001. The exhibit will then travel to museums around the state for four months each. The permanent WW II exhibit will then take its place in the Museum of Florida History. A full-color Florida Heritage Trail series book will be published and an interactive web presence will be unveiled as well.
