Bay Area Community and Business Leaders

WHAT: Community briefing to release Pacific Gas and Electric
          Company's "California Economic Outlook 2000"

WHEN: Friday, March 10, 2000
          9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

WHERE: Pacific Gas and Electric Company
          Auditorium
          245 Market Street, San Francisco

WHY: For the past 14 years, Pacific Gas and Electric Company has
published an economic forecast to help leaders across the
state plan for the future. As the utility that serves 13
million people in Northern and Central California, the
company's future is inextricably linked to the state's
          economic well-being.

The 2000 economic forecast predicts continued prosperity and
slower job growth in California that is consistent with the
national trend, but with the added bottleneck of labor and
          affordable housing shortages.
