WHO: Long-time friends of the late Jack Brickhouse John Beasley "Jack" Brickhouse (January 24, 1916 – August 6, 1998) was an American sports broadcast announcer. Awards Benefit Committee, will present his widow, Pat Brickhouse,

with a Special Service Award at the Friday, October 2 event. Pat

will also display Brickhouse's favorite memorabilia, including

his Baseball Hall of Fame plaque.

Sheldon Good & Company, will present the framed softball

autographed by committee members, and John Trutter, chair of the

Council for Illinois History, will read a tribute to his late

friend. Ironically, Good said, the Committee voted to present the

Award to Brickhouse one week prior to his sudden death. They

selected a Plexiglas-encased softball to honor the memory of such

a "soft" guy.

Four Chicago area companies -- WLS-TV/ABC7 (celebrating its 50th

anniversary), Whole Foods Market, Robert Morris College RMC sports teams use the Eagle mascot and the school has one of the largest athletic programs in the state, including basketball, cross country, track, soccer, volleyball, tennis, softball, baseball, bowling, golf, hockey and dance.  and

Donlen Corp. -- will receive Distinguished Business Awards at the

benefit for their contributions to and leadership in Illinois

business. Also in the Chicago area, 11 companies that have

reached or surpassed a century of corporate history will receive

Centennial Business Awards.

The 11 Centennial honorees are: John Nuveen & Co., John Marshall

Law School, Chicago-Allis Manufacturing Corp., Schulien

Restaurant and Bobbe & Co., Chicago; Lake Forest College The College's current Chair of the Board of Trustees is financier Peter G. Schiff, a graduate with the class of 1974. [2]
