 SEMINAR FOR EMPLOYERS
WHAT: The California Division of Labor Standards and Enforcement
(DLSE) in collaboration with the Employment and
Development Department (EDD) will conduct a free State
Wage, Hour, and Payroll Tax Seminar in Long Beach on
            July 26th.

WHEN: Wednesday, July 26, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

WHERE: Career Transitions Center, 3447 Atlantic Avenue, Long
            Beach, CA

BACKGROUND: The seminar will provide employers information on record
keeping, reporting requirements, employer obligations, and
payment requirements. Employers will also learn the basics
on how to distinguish between an employee and an
independent contractor and common wage and hour
application. In addition: DLSE and EDD labor experts will
be available to answer wage and hour questions. "Our
experience is that most employers want to comply with the
law, but many are unsure of what is required of them,"
said Acting Labor Commissioner Robert Jones. "To address
this need for information, we are reaching out to
California's small business to help them understand
employer and employee rights and responsibilities."

There is no charge for this seminar. Reservations are recommended and available by telephone: (866) 873-6086 or (415) 703-4810.

For additional seminar dates, times, locations and subjects, please check EDD's internet site: www.edd.ca.gov/taxsem and go to special or major events or telephone (888) 873-6083.
