 WHAT: Seattle Fundraising Dinner for Conservation
 International attended by more than 600 of Seattle's
 conservation-minded citizens

 WHEN: Thursday, November 7, 2002 Reception, 6:30 p.m.;

 WHERE: Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center, 2nd Avenue and
 Thomas Street

 HIGHLIGHTS: Michael Fay, the conservationist whose 2000-mile
 "megatransect" across Central Africa was featured by National
 Geographic, will be the keynote speaker. E.O. Wilson, renowned
 scientist and two-time Pulitzer Prize winning author will make
 a special presentation. Harrison Ford will present his newest
 public service announcement for CI. Starbucks president and
 ceo and CI Board Member, Orin Smith, will serve as the emcee
 for the evening

 BACKGROUND: Conservation International is holding a
 fundraising dinner to inform the Seattle community of the
 innovative work being accomplished in its strategically
 focused efforts to protect the world's 25 biodiversity
 hotspots. Conservation International's focus is on achievable
 results and the topics of the evening will reflect the
 organization's uniquely optimistic approach to conservation.

 Starbucks is hosting the event, which has raised $1.4 million,
 which will directly benefit Conservation International's work
 to protect global biodiversity. Starbucks and Conservation
 International have been partners since 1998, with projects
 that include the production of Shade Grown Mexico coffee which
 helps protect biodiversity rich land and supports coffee
 farmers in Chiapas, Mexico. Event attendance will include
 regional business and philanthropic leaders, CI's board of
 directors, Starbucks leadership, business partners and others.
