WHO: StarGen, a fabless semiconductor company that supplies
advanced serial switched interconnect solutions and offers a
complete line of bridge and switch products will demonstrate
StarFabric's versatility at this year's Bus&Board Conference
showing product applications from a variety of industries.
StarFabric-based products are currently being designed into
a wide range of market segments including medical imaging,
video serving, semiconductor testing, communication routers
and switches, military command and control, and storage
equipment.
WHAT: StarGen will feature four different StarFabric applications
using systems from vendors in the communications,
server/storage, military, and network switching markets.
These vendors include:
-- Jupiter Systems (www.jupiter.com), a leading worldwide
supplier of network-based multiple-screen display stations
and display wall controllers, which has implemented
StarFabric in its new Fusion 980 display wall controller;
-- SeaChange International (www.schange.com), a leading
provider of digital video systems for the cable industry,
which uses StarFabric to significantly increase throughput
and subscriber capabilities in its MediaCluster(TM) mass
storage system, while reusing existing system components,
chassis and software;
-- BAE Systems (www.baesystems.com), which uses the
StarFabric architecture as the backplane interconnect
solution for its F-35 Joint Strike Fighter line of
electronic warfare systems;
-- and SVA Networks (www.svanetus.com/index.php), developer
of next generation network switching and security
products, which has developed the SVA 10k-8 Enterprise
Ethernet Router, implementing the control plane with
standard off-the-shelf components using StarFabric
technology
WHERE: The Bus&Board Conference (www.busandboard.com), presented by
the VMEbus International Trade Association (VITA) and the
PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG), will
take place at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach on 200 South Pine
Avenue in Long Beach, CA. StarGen will feature its four
StarFabric applications at tabletop #44. In addition, a
demonstration of StarFabric's capabilities will also be set
up to interconnect systems between the booths of the
participating members of the StarFabric Trade Association
(booths 4-10), including Kaparel, Hybricon, Aurora with
Channel Access, Bustronic, Radstone, and Synergy
Microsystems.
WHEN: The Bus&Board Conference will be held on Monday, January 19,
and Tuesday, January 20, 2004. The conference focuses on
VMEbus, CompactPCI, PCI, PC104, fabrics, motherboards, and
mezzanine cards for embedded applications and includes
presentations from industry experts in the military,
industrial, and telecom market segments.
About StarGen StarGen is a semiconductor company providing advanced serial switched interconnect (1) To attach one device to another. (2) A physical port (plug, socket) or wireless port (transmitter, receiver) used to attach one device to another. solutions for compute To perform mathematical operations or general computer processing. For an explanation of "The 3 C's," or how the computer processes data, see computer. and communications equipment. It is the leading designer of low-overhead, protocol-agnostic, open standards-based serial switched architectures, which enable system designers to bring new capabilities to their system while using existing standards-based parts. StarGen's currently shipping StarFabric product line benefits vendors of embedded systems Embedded systems Computer systems that cannot be programmed by the user because they are preprogrammed for a specific task and are buried within the equipment they serve. needing enhanced switched PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS. StarGen is also currently developing StarXpress, a complementary line of products built upon the Advanced Switching standard and compatible with PCI Express A high-speed peripheral interconnect from Intel introduced in 2002. Note that although sometimes abbreviated "PCX," PCI Express is not the same as "PCI-X" (see PCI-SIG and PCI-X for comparison). As a result of the confusion, "PCI-E" or "PCIe" is the accepted abbreviation. (TM). These products will be ideal solutions for blade server A server architecture that houses multiple server modules ("blades") in a single chassis. It is widely used in datacenters to save space and improve system management. Either self-standing or rack mounted, the chassis provides the power supply, and each blade has its own CPU, memory and , storage, and mid-range communications applications. StarGen's switched interconnect products provide a dramatic increase in equipment performance, scalability, reliability, and Quality of Service while maintaining backward compatibility See backward compatible.
