ADVISORY/Sports Authorities of Pittsburgh to Sell Assets of Three Rivers in Online Auction Conducted Through FreeMarkets; Onsite Auctions for Memorabilia Set for January.Business Editors, News/City Desks & Sports Columnists ADVISORY...for Nov. 17 (Friday) PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 2000 The Sports & Exhibition Authority and Stadium Authority of Pittsburgh will conduct an online auction of assets of Three Rivers Three Rivers, Que., Canada: see Trois Rivières. Stadium through FreeMarkets, Inc. (Nasdaq:FMKT FMKT - Freemarkets, Inc. (stock abbreviation, AMEX)) on Friday, Nov. 17 at 1:00 p.m. Onsite auctions for memorabilia are scheduled to be held in January. Proceeds from the auctions will be applied to the cost of demolishing Three Rivers Stadium and provide funding for City of Pittsburgh parks and recreation. Buyers from across the United States and Canada are registered to participate in the online auction for big-ticket items such as the Sony Jumbotron, scoreboards and large blocks of seats. FreeMarkets identified potential buyers through the global network of buyers registered in the FreeMarkets(R) Asset Exchange, the leading B2B eMarketplace for selling surplus assets. The Company also marketed the auction to minor league teams and other organizations that could use the assets. FreeMarkets will conduct two onsite auctions in January for smaller items the Stadium Authority is selling, including pieces of turf, small blocks of stadium seats, TV monitors, signage, and banners among other items.
