PROJECT DETAILS
-- This was a $9.2 million construction project.
-- The 600-foot pier extension project brings the total pier
length to 2,200 feet.
-- Construction was started in July and completed in
December.
-- The pier extension allows the Maersk Sealand's and CSX
Lines' vessels to operate more efficiently in the
facility.
-- Maersk Sealand's vessels are 1,138 feet long, and are the
largest container ships calling in North America. They
can carry 6,600 containers.
-- The terminal originally opened in 1985.
