Clean Air Vans, SUVs, Pickups and Cars to Be Unveiled

at June 27 News Conference

WHAT/WHEN:  In its first major consumer empowerment program since the
            1-800-CUT-SMOG smoking vehicle complaint line, the South
            Coast Air Quality Management District will unveil the
            Clean Air Choice program at a 10:30 a.m. news conference
            on June 27 at the Petersen Automotive Museum.

            This innovative new car labeling program is designed to
            help new car buyers easily identify Clean Air Choice cars,
            sport utilities, pickups, and vans, which are the cleanest
            in the world. Purchasing a new car is one of the most
            important individual environmental choices.

SPEAKERS:   Emceed By Actor and Environmental Activist Ed Begley Jr.;
            William Burke, Chairman, South Coast AQMD;
            Scott Gunderson, President, Greater Los Angeles New Car
             Dealers Association;
            Barry Wallerstein, Executive Officer, South Coast AQMD

DETAILS:    Examples of the wide variety of Clean Air Choice makes and
            models will be displayed with some of the most surprising
            models unveiled for the camera. AQMD will announce its new
            Clean Air Choice Web site.

DIRECTIONS: With a panoramic view of Century City as the backdrop,
            the press conference will be on the top floor of the
            parking garage of the Petersen Automotive Museum, 6060
            Wilshire Blvd. Enter the garage from Fairfax Ave., just
            south of Wilshire. Let the parking attendant know you are
            there for the news conference to receive complimentary
            parking. Enter the museum and take the elevator to the top
            floor and go left to the parking structure. Refreshments
            will be served.
