(April 16 & 17) RSA Conference The RSA Conference is a Cryptography-related conference held annually in the San Francisco Bay Area. The RSA Conference started in 1991 as a forum for cryptographers to gather and share the latest knowledge and advancements in the area of Internet security. 2003 --(BUSINESS WIRE)
Where: Moscone Center
San Francisco, CA
When: 11:15 AM, Wednesday April 16, 2003
11:00 AM, Thursday April 17, 2003
What: Martin Roesch, founder and CTO of Sourcefire, Inc., a leader
in protecting enterprises and government organizations
against the threat of network attacks and misuse, is
presenting his insights on intrusion detection and corporate
network security during several "class tracks" at next
week's RSA Conference in San Francisco. Roesch will also
provide insights and real world examples on detecting
threats and protecting corporate networks against attacks,
based on his experiences at Sourcefire and as creator of the
Snort(TM) Intrusion Detection System.
In the first session, "Using IDS Tagging to Nab Attackers"
at 11:15 AM on Wednesday, April 16, Roesch will discuss how
companies can use their Intrusion Detection System to track
attackers by logging traffic after an initial exploit is
detected. He will detail how the IDS can record all activity
on a particular host or session for a definable number of
seconds or packets, increasing the chances of stopping the
attacker.
During the second session, "IDS Challenges, Emerging
Technology & Deployment Trends" at 11:00 AM on Thursday,
April 17, Roesch will take part in a panel discussion that
will address the shortfalls of Gigabit IDS, emerging
alternative IDS strategies with active defense, and overall
trends in the IDS implementation arena.
Who: Martin Roesch is a respected authority on intrusion
detection technology and forensics and is responsible for
the technical direction and product development efforts at
Sourcefire. He has 14 years of industry experience in
network security and embedded systems engineering. Mr.
Roesch is also the author and lead developer of the award
