BACKGROUND:
In a boon for the potential of wider use of solar power in Los
Angeles, LADWP customers can receive $5 per watt incentives to
install locally manufactured solar power systems at their
homes and offices. The incentive program, which is enhanced as
the solar industry grows in Los Angeles, holds the potential
of creating 2 megawatts of nonpolluting photovoltaic energy,
or enough to power about 600 homes annually in the city of Los
Angeles. The program can help save energy and free up
electricity to meet the needs in other parts of California.
