Digital Island (Nasdaq:ISLD) today announced The 2001 British General Election will be broadcast live online around the globe by Sky News, Europe's leading 24-hour news service, through Digital Island's streaming media network. Digital Island will digitally transmit the all-night election program, Vote 2001, on June 7 and 8 to Internet audiences worldwide.

This Web event will extend the live coverage to British nationals and proxy voters throughout the world, as well as provide Internet users with instant access to the latest election news.

Sky News will be using Digital Island's global Footprint(R) Live Streaming network to distribute and stream live General Election 2001 coverage via the website, www.sky.com/news, between 9 p.m. - 6 a.m. GMT on election night.
