WHERE: Charles W. Barrett Elementary School -- 418 West 98th Street
(near Century Blvd. & Figueroa St.) Los Angeles.
Parking located on the main playground.
WHO: More than 40 Sanwa Bank California employees -- ranging from
bank branch managers to senior vice presidents
WHY: Each year, Sanwa Bank California voluntarily works in
conjunction with Junior Achievement to teach 2nd, 3rd, 4th and
5th grade classes at the Charles W. Barrett Elementary School
in South Central L.A.
The Junior Achievement curriculum is intended to teach youth
about the free enterprise system. This year there will be more
than 40 Sanwa Bankers teaching three 2nd grade classes; ten
3rd grade classes; seven 4th grade classes; and seven 5th
grade classes.
Sanwa Bank California has an on-going voluntary and
philanthropic relationship with Barrett Elementary School.
The Bank has donated money and computer hardware for the
school's computer training program. Sanwa employees donated
their time to the school by doing maintenance and
beautification projects like re-painting the school library
and lunch facilities, as well as planting various shrubs and
flowers around the campus.
