The Transparent SAN: Identifying and Managing Congestion with
Policy-based Management Tools
The traditional rationale for SANs is to consolidate storage
resources and increase functionality. This allows
increased flexibility, management and reduction in total
cost of ownership. But this exercise raises some other
issues that are often overlooked, such "over subscription"
and "congestion" within the fabric. These issues need to
be identified, controlled and then customized to suit the
network demands and service level agreements (SLA) of the
organization. This session will discuss how the Rural
Achievement Zone is using a virtualized heterogeneous SAN
to solve these problems.
