Lou Thompson joined NIRI in 1982 and is a member of the Institute's Board of Directors and Senior Roundtable Steering Committee as well as its President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. . He is an internationally recognized expert on corporate disclosure, governance, and other corporate strategic management topics, Lou is the author of NIRI's Standards of Practice for Investor Relations. He is a highly regarded speaker and frequently quoted media spokesperson on investor relations issues.

Lou is a graduate of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Senior Executive Program. He received undergraduate and advanced degrees in journalism and communication from Iowa State University Academics
