WHAT: SEC workshop on the new Plain English Plain English (sometimes known, more broadly, as plain language) is a communication style that focuses on considering the audience's needs when writing. It recommends avoiding unnecessary words and avoiding jargon, technical terms, and long and ambiguous sentences.  rules governing the

language used in financial disclosure documents.

WHO: The workshop will be conducted by Martin Dunn, associate

director of disclosure operations in the SEC's Corporation

Finance Division, and Carolyn Miller, attorney advisor in

the division.

WHERE: The "SEC Plain English" workshop is at the Minneapolis

Downtown Hilton.

WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 24, with registration at 11:30 a.m.

followed by lunch and the workshop beginning at noon.

WHY: The workshop is designed to assist corporation lawyers,
