Financial institutions are concerned with declining payment revenues as a result of the waning popularity of checks. In fact, check usage is declining with an estimated $271 million loss of revenue over the next five years. Additionally, as PIN-debit and online bill payment have increased, banks are losing even more revenue from loss of NSF NSF - National Science Foundation  fees.
