Hard Rock Cafe Hard Rock Cafe is a chain of casual dining restaurants. It was founded in 1971 by Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton, and their first Hard Rock Cafe opened near Hyde Park Corner in London, in a former Rolls Royce car dealerships showroom close to Hyde Park, where in 1979 they began to  and Rolling Rock have teamed up to give unsigned bands a spectacular opportunity to showcase their music with a "Battle of the Bands" event to take place at Hard Rock locations around the country. The national winner will be chosen by public voting on www.hardrock.com, and will open this year's Rolling Rock Town Fair 2.0 in Latrobe, PA on August 4, 2001.

How it Works

Local unsigned bands and their supporters have submitted CDs to various Hard Rock locations around the country, and have performed in the challenging preliminary rounds. Now in the regional finals, local bands have been narrowed down to three finalists in each of the participating locations: Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, New York City New York City: see New York, city.

At the end of these regional competitions, one winner from each Hard Rock location will be selected to compete in the final national contest, with public voting to take place on the Hard Rock website www.hardrock.com from July 21st through July 24th. The winner will be announced on radio and on www.hardrock.com on July 25th, and the winning band will open the Rolling Rock Town Fair 2.0 concert in Latrobe, PA, featuring the Stone Temple Pilots.

Rolling Rock Town Fair 2.0

Last summer 33,000 music fans descended on the quiet town of Latrobe for the Rolling Rock Town Fair, the biggest music event ever to hit western Pennsylvania. On August 4, 2001, the second annual Rolling Rock Town Fair will return with a power driven line-up that includes headliners Stone Temple Pilots, Live, Deftones, Incubus, Staind, Oleander and Tantric.

Dubbed Rolling Rock Town Fair 2.0, the daylong music event and interactive festival will take place at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds. Once again Rolling Rock Town Fair 2.0 will feature a unique combination of carnival attractions from stilt stilt, common name for some members of the family Recurvirostridae, shore birds including the avocet. Stilts, as their name implies, have the longest legs of any bird except the flamingo.  walkers to tattoos. Roaming clowns, strolling magicians, local artisans and games will add to the festive atmosphere.
