Richard C. Notebaert, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ameritech, will hold a press briefing on Monday, October 5, 1998, immediately following the Information Industry Luncheon at the 1998 National Communications Forum, the information industry's premier educational event presented by the International Engineering Consortium (IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission, Geneva, Switzerland, www.iec.ch) An organization that sets international electrical and electronics standards founded in 1906. It is made up of national committees from over 60 countries.

The press briefing will be held in the American/Braniff Room at the Hyatt Regency Regency, in British history, the period of the last nine years (1811–20) of the reign of George III, when the king's insanity had rendered him unfit to rule and the government was vested in the prince of Wales (later George IV) as regent.  O'Hare in Rosemont, Illinois Rosemont is a village in Cook County, Illinois, founded in 1956. The population was 4,224 at the 2000 census.

The 1998 Carrier IP Telephony The two-way transmission of voice over a packet-switched IP network, which is part of the TCP/IP protocol suite. The terms "IP telephony" and "voice over IP" (VoIP) are synonymous.  ComForum, an educational conference co-located with NCF98-InfoVision that will be held October 6-7, 1998. The ComForum is the first industry event to focus primarily on helping carriers and service providers deliver voice, video, fax, and hybrid data services over IP networks.

The Media Welcome Breakfast, which will be held Monday, October 5, from 9:00-10:00 am in the American/Braniff Room of the Hyatt Regency O'Hare. Also attending will be the InfoVision Award Winners. This is a great opportunity to interact with these industry leaders in an informal setting. The Breakfast is sponsored by the IEC.

The Media Council Dinner, which will be held Monday, October 5, 1998 at Carlucci's, 6111 N. River Road, Rosemont, Illinois, a short ride from the Hyatt Regency O'Hare. Dr. Elon Ganor, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of VocalTec, Inc., will be offering the keynote remarks. VocalTec is a leading producer of software that enables voice and audio communications over the Internet. Dr. Ganor will be addressing the transition from current circuit-switched carrier networks to the future IP-based networks. The dinner is sponsored by the IEC, and will begin at 6:00 pm.
