The Ohio Historical Society The Ohio Historical Society is a non-profit organization incorporated in 1885 "...to promote a knowledge of archaeology and history, especially in Ohio." The society exists to interpret, preserve, collect, and make available evidence of the past, and to provide leadership on  welcomes Gov. Bob Taft Robert Alphonso "Bob" Taft II (born January 8, 1942) is an American Republican politician. He was elected to two terms of office as the Governor of the U.S. state of Ohio between 1999-2007. Taft started work for the University of Dayton beginning August 15 2007. , Sen. George Voinovich George Victor Voinovich (born July 15, 1936) is the senior United States Senator from the state of Ohio, and a member of the Republican Party. -- This Statehood Day (March 1) event celebrates the completion of the most significant restoration at Adena: The Home of Thomas Worthington since Ohio's 150th birthday in 1953. The $6.6 million project, funded by state capital improvement appropriations, includes the restoration of the Adena mansion and gardens and the construction of a new Museum & Education Center.

-- A leader in the statehood movement, Worthington served as one of Ohio's first two U.S. Senators and its sixth governor. His home is considered nationally significant because it is one of only three remaining houses built by America's first professional architect, Benjamin Henry Latrobe.

mansion. Tours of mansion begin at 11:30 a.m. and continue

throughout weekend. Grand opening hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday. Special family activities at museum begin

at noon each day.

-- Adena is located in Chillicothe, NW of the intersection of

U.S. 23 and U.S. 35. From U.S. 23, take U.S. 35 west, exit

right onto S. R. 104, turn right on Pleasant Valley Rd. and

left on Adena Rd. Check in with staff at Adena & Orange Rds.
