Results of a nationwide Harris Interactive Harris Interactive (NASDAQ: HPOL) is an American market research company that specializes in public opinion research using both telephone and surveys on online panels.  summer travel plans will be released to news media next week. On the cusp of the summer travel season, which begins June 21, the poll results indicate that many American families will be staying home and why.

It measured the impact of today's news -- about terrorism, SARS and other diseases, the economy and job security and other major concerns -- on family travel plans. The findings target a single reason.

After taking current problems into consideration, the poll also tells what types of vacations American families would most like to take. Finally it announces findings on whether "in a time of increased patriotism" Americans are more, or less, likely to visit sites of historical significance such as Colonial Williamsburg Colonial Williamsburg is the historic district of the independent city of Williamsburg, Virginia.
