WHO:      With more than 30 years experience and 1 million images,
          James Stanfield is the quintessential National Geographic
          photographer. Stanfield's adventures have taken him to more
          than 120 countries for 65 assignments. The White House News
          Photographers Association has chosen him as Photographer of
          the Year four times: in 1970, 1977, 1982 and 1987.  The
          National Press Photographers Association also named him
          Magazine Photographer of the Year in 1985.  In July 1999,
          the NPPA presented Stanfield with the Joseph A. Sprague
          Memorial Award for Lifetime Achievement.

WHAT:     The Midwest's premiere exhibition of photography from
          National Geographic's new book: "THROUGH THE LENS: NATIONAL
          GEOGRAPHIC GREATEST PHOTOGRAPHS" at the Contessa Gallery's
          new Legacy Village location in Lyndhurst, Ohio.

          Limited edition National Geographic prints from the book and
          copies of "THROUGH THE LENS" will be available for sale. Jim
          Stanfield will be available to sign photograph dedications
          and copies of the book, which features his work.

          "THROUGH THE LENS" is the biggest photography book in the
          history of National Geographic -- 504 pages, 7 pounds, 250
          photographs, printed in 20 languages.

 WHEN:    Friday, Oct. 24, 5 to 9 p.m.

          Stanfield is available for interviews Friday, Oct. 24.
