WHAT: Author Ray Bradbury will be honored with the 2,193rd star on
the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony begins the Mayor's
month-long citywide reading initiative called "One Book, One
City L.A.," during which Angelenos are encouraged to read
Bradbury's science-fiction classic "Fahrenheit 451."
Joining Bradbury at the ceremony will be Charlton Heston,
Mayor Jim Hahn and Hollywood honorary Mayor Johnny Grant and
Los Angeles City Councilmember Eric Garcetti.

BACKGROUND:
An award winning author, Bradbury wrote short science-fiction stories
and learned the craft while watching "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and
"The Twilight Zone." He wrote several screenplays including the film
adaption of John Huston's 1953 version of "Moby Dick." He started
writing "Fahrenheit 451" while living in Venice on pay-by-the-hour
typewriters at UCLA.
